A downloadable game

Bizarre visual novel about being lost inside a Japanese convenience store, made in Google Slides. Play in your browser here.

Instructions:

  • Play at this link here!
  • Play only in Slideshow mode (button on the top right) so you cannot see the upcoming slides on the left hand side
  • When there are button options, please select one to avoid slides being shown in the wrong order
  • Where there is highlighted text, please click to ensure you are directed to the correct slide
  • You can also download it but as it's exported as a .pptx file, I'm unsure if any of the images or text have been altered.

Inspirations:

  • Lonely Nights by tofubeats (recommend listening for the vibe!)
  • Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami
  • Living in Japan for 7 years

This was such a fun play โ€“ really enjoyed the use of google slides/links!!

Thank you so much! Appreciate you taking the time to play it. It's kind of lo-fi Ren'Py, but it works!

This was really interesting to play. Never seen a google slides Itch.io game. Cool stuff ol

Thank you so much for checking it out! Google Slides is a really nifty tool for prototyping I think! Before going all in on Ren'Py

Really enjoyed the surreal storyline and the graphic style! Now I'm really craving an egg sandwich...

Thank you so much for playing! Glad you resonated with the storyline and egg sandwich in equal parts :)

Loved the stylistic aesthetic and the characters - as well as the relatable desire fore a tamago sando ^_^

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you like the aesthetic. And yes making this game made me really hungry for a tamago sando for sure hehe

Short, sweet, and doesn't overstay the welcome for its absurdist premise. My only complaint is that google slides flashes the screen white repeatedly when you click through dialogue.

Thank you for playing! I've gotten a lot of good feedback on this so I think I will try Ren'Py for my next visual novel to avoid things like the flash
